“UX in Denial?” — Maybe it’s the market that’s in denial.

Yes, I see it too: in my AI-Prototyping workshops, designers are often the most skeptical group.

Not because they reject AI - but because they live under constant delivery pressure.

“I had to be done yesterday.”

“How do I fit this into my workflow?”

“Can AI really produce quality?”

All fair questions.

Because quality doesn’t come from the tool — it comes from how much thought and setup you put in. And yes, synthetic personas will never replace real users. But the speed and iteration power they enable is hard to ignore.

Here’s the real paradox though:

Even as a heavily AI-optimized UX designer and product manager, I struggle to find clients in Germany who actually want that. Most companies still expect polished, production-ready mockups — not a designer who challenges how the workflow itself works.

So while everyone talks about “AI transformation,”

the market still rewards old delivery models.

Maybe the question isn’t: “Why are designers in denial?”

Maybe it’s: “Why isn’t the market ready for designers who’ve already made the leap?”
