@Wheatpaste - I came here to see if anyone else feels the way I do about these no more UI assertions. And if this does materialize? Wow, a boring world indeed. Thank you for your comment.

The ‘no more ui’ declaration supposes that people will only want information, not experiences. Perhaps we will not call what we do UI anymore, but I’m skeptical that thousands of creative, skilled visual problems solvers will just shuffle off into house painting careers. I don’t know exactly what forms they will take, but there will be new units and modes of design and expression. The idea that a structure will keep us from playing, inventing (and that stolid, monolithic corporations won’t eventually want in on that ineffable goodness) isn’t palusible to me. The ‘handful of interfaces run by conglomerates serving me info’ sounds SO boring I can’t imagine a world where people WOULDN’T sieze the creative means.
